Unhappy

I have just installed an NEC NR 7800A CDRW into a Windows 98 Pentium 233. I have installed Easy CD Creator 3 , 4 & 5, and each time they come up with an error:
CD Copier could not detect any supported CD-Recorders. please ensure your CD-Recorder is properly connected. If the problem persists, please re-install Easy CD Creator.

However, i have tried installing a demo version of some CDwriting software called Feurio! and that seemed to be recognising the CDRW Drive. The CDRW drive can read CD's fine and is setected in the BIOS and Device Manager Correctly. Has anyone any ideas, as I'm really getting p!ssed of with it now

Cheers

AVI - that's why I gave you the name of the .exe, just do a google search & hey presto......loads of url's with said aspi checker.

I tell you what, why don't I drive over & pick up your pc, install your cd drive & give it a general once over to make sure there are no other problems for you

Shunty - Tomorrow Morning OK.. about 10

If you can have it back by 5 that would be good.

PS. I have upgraded Easy Cd to the latest version from their site. I'll try the aspi drivers tomorrow.

Cheers

update your EZCD5 to the latest version, 5.02 I believe, from the roxio website. As your CDRW is new its probably not supported in the standard EZCD software. Roxio website lists all burners supported btw.
If that doesnt work then I guess EZCD doesn't support your burner, so try Nero instead

Forgot to say was it EZCD that came with the burner? If not u can always use the apps they supplied with the burner if any.

Check to see what is latest version of firmware for cdrw, might need firmware flashing-up.

Are you using the correct drivers for OS, this is the old favourite....

If it is scusi then check the physical switches, cabling are correct.

Does scusi card work, does anything else hang off it, has it been seen working.

Nero & Adaptec (or Roxio)as it is now have a lot of support built in for cdr recognition.
Also get aspichk.exe (I think its called) updates aspi layer, although burner software should do this anyway.

hope this helps.
