loaded XP last night,

all fine apart from when i connect to internet, no dial up appears on bottom right hand corner once connected, so to log of net i have to use log off user

how do you set it up as other OS gave the active icon straight away and you just double clicked to disconnect

Go into Control Panel -> Network Connections

You should see your Dial-Up connection listed. Right-click and select Properties. On the General Tab (default screen), at the bottom, there should be the setting "Show icon in notification area when connected". Make sure it's enabled and that should give you the little icon once you've connected to the net.

If you choose the Log Off options from the Start Menu, you'll just get logged out of the PC. I don't use Dial-Up, so perhaps the logoff net option will do it for you?!?
