Question

I have some photos (i took of Sydney Harbour bridge) that were 2 shots wide as i didnt have a wide angled lense and couldnt fit all the bridge into 1 picture.

Is there any software that will help me stitch them together ? There used to be something from Canon called Photostitch but i dont know really and i have tried with Paintshop Pro and Photoshop with no joy.

www.panoramafactory.com should be more than satisfactory...in fact its brilliant given a bit of time to experiment with - and if you only want to do these two pictures, the free download version will probably do the trick.

In Paintshop Pro, load the first image, then increase the size of the canvas using image, canvas size. This will increase the size the image "holder", but leave the original image untouched. Then load the second image, copy and paste it as a new selection (ctrl + e) and you can move it around in the first image to your heart's content.

...but the perspective will be different for each picture so it may be impossible to just stitch the images together side by side in a graphics package and get an effect you'd consider good enough for, say, printing . Panorama Factory (in my simple understanding) actually changes the perspective of each picture and then does some clever matching to see where the pictures should be joined. It is pretty damned clever and the results are very impressive when you join 7 or 8 pictures together to do a 360 degree panorama

I've tried it the suggested way, and it just doesn't cut the mustard....

I have Canon Photostitch and it's excellent. You can do 360 degree phots with it that you can view in Quicktime.

I got it with my Ixus, but you may be able to get a copy from the Canon website
