Default Why does my Macbook keep losing the wifi signal ?

On internet connect the signal strength indicator keeps dropping and showing a weaker signal reception. Nothing has changed in the house, nothing electrical switched on/off, nothing moved. I have tried the solwise homeplug and the wifi one but the same still happens. I have put the macbook right next to the bthub and the signal varies. The duocore mac is connected to the same hub via ethernet and never a problem.
So it looks like an issue with the macbook. Anything I can do before going to the dealer ?

Cheers

You could try changing the channel number in your router settings

Not wishing to be rude but you cannot compare the machine connected to a hub via ethernet to a wi-fi connection, unless you meant that this other machine also has wireless, and you have unplugged the ethernet to test the wireless and it does not have any problems.

What exact model is the machine? It could be faulty airport hardware, thus a replacement might be needed. How old is the machine?

The OS is up to date with all apple updates OS 10.4.11
Macbook must be at least 4 yrs old by now I think. It is a Macbook 1.1
Using the Solwise wifi plug in the same room and close by it still loses signal level strength.
Haven't unplugged the duocore (14 months old and wife's business machine--I do not mess with this if I want a calm life !!!!!) She has the ethernet connection because it seemed the safest and most reliable connection when we had the machine, have never tried it wireless so cannot compare, sorry.
Does this all help at all ?
Cheers and thanks.

You need to try it against a other wireless device because it could be the router . Just beg the wife to try hers and see if that's the same
