Need MacBook advice asap
Going to buy a MacBook tonight looking at either the MacBook in White£849 or the pro at £999.
Only difference I can see is the style and 2gb ram difference. I'll be doing photoshopping but not alot. Mainly browsing and iTunes. Is there better features on tbe pro?
Which would be better in longrun. Can I put ram in myself ?

Pro everytime mate That extra £150 will make all the difference in the long term.
Yes you can put in your own ram, best to put them in pairs for extra performance, up to 8GB
Other differences apart from the better build is the ambient light sensor on the keyboard (it illuminates under low light ), more expansion (SD card and firewire 800) and surprisingly enough is lighter

Hit the Apple key and Space Bar to bring up Spotlight, type "Activity" Activity Monitor should show up as you're typing, hit enter. I doubt you'll need it but it's there.

For the other one there may be an easier way but Click Finder - Bottom right on the Dock - click Go up top and choose Connect to Server... in the server address add something like smb://192.168.101.5/<yoursharedfolder> there may be a better way but that's what I do when connecting to Windows Shares

I don't think even the most died in the wool windows fanboy can deny the quality, bling and all round sexiness of all apple products, its the damn monopoly they keep recreating with every product that's so frustrating.

...a monopoly that has created a flood of free applications, shareware and freeware for just about anything you might want to do.
Unlike the 'open' world of Microsoft where just about anything comes at a price and requires system programming skills to make work.

I found a app called burn. I can't get on With iTunes making mp3 discs create too many folders .
I had a nightmare with iphoto and ITunes , everytime I connected the iPhone 4 kept on crashing. Just gave the phone a restore and worked like a treat.
The multitouch keyboard is very cool.
Going to sort timemachine out for it tonight.

I've been using Zterm but it keeps crashing, plus has loads of missing features.
I also so miss Ztree now I'm using OSX 95% of the time. Haven't found a suitable replacement for that either.

LiquidCD is a nice app for burning... Bit like Toast but Free (I think)
My advice would be to invest in Applecare, I have had issues with my MBP after a year and glad I got it but then I rely on it for my income! They definitely do NOT make Macs like they used too and I reckon I've used a very large percentage of Mac models in my working life...
