iomega itb external HDD goosed
its not a firmware issue as I have the barracuda 7200.12 not 11.
I checked.
But I came back tonight and I think the wrong connector has been plugged in, so no life and no little blue light.
I presume that the internal pcb has surge protection before the HDD..?
So can I buy one of those SATA drive power converters and run the HDD to my lappy therefore bypassing the little pcb?

Gutted as it has the family photos on it and I only asked her to fire it up so I could backup to DVDs.
please help

Hi Andy,
if its a standard SATA drive, drop it out of the unit, and get someone who has a SATA pc to plug the puppy in. if its fine, then just buy a new drive, and get them to ghost the drive
its going some to get the power pins connected wrongly
floppy drives, possible.
HDD etc unlikely
