Default PC Duo?

Got a work laptop, using it now from home & just noticed PC Duo running as an icon bottom right of screen What is it? Can't turn it off either ...

That's a remote control app mate, probably locked down by your comps IT so u cant remove it

What does it / do IT do with it though? Are they / can they "spy" on me

Normally it's so a tech can remote it to solve an issue you might have while u watch.

Usually you need permission to connect to it, but depends on how they've set it up.

Theoretically yes, they could spy on u at anytime, when it's online.

I see. Normally when we log a call to IT they call back & get us to confirm our laptop nr so they can connect to it & "do their thing"! I'm not connected by VPN at moment though so it's just my broadband connection ... can they still connect like that?

Possibly yep as it's web based service so as long as your lappy is connected to the net they can get in.
