Default Moving an OS from one HDD to another

Can this be done flawlessly?
Want to use an 80GB sata drive from an old laptop, move that OS, to the 40GB in my PS3, and vice versa. Have spare storage space on another HDD as a go between.

Whats the best way?

Thanks

As above.

I like Ghost but it's a cost option.

I also used to use DriveImageXML but now for personal use, I'd recommend Macrium Reflect

Another vote for Acronis. I use it for backups as well as disk cloning. Another contender is StorageCraft's ShadowProtect
