networked macs
I've worked out - possibly, i am just plain unobservant - that when my 'mac pro' and macbook pro are both connected to the router, they find each other and i can look at the drives on either
is that normal? iirc, i plugged in my mobileme details on each - is that how they 'authenticated' each other?

They use 'AFP' and Bonjour to see other 'Mac' devices on a local network.
I run a Mac Pro, iMac and a Macbook Pro at the studio. If you have the same user account names/passwords across them - they will automatically show the drives/shares.
Otherwise, you can 'Connect As' on the Network screen to authenticate and save the password. Great feature and works seemlessly.
On another point - love how OS X sees Windows devices with a Blue Screen of Death logo

lol, neither mac registers the g/f's windows 7 pc... but!
Since I installed win7 on her pc, the PS3 now shows a windows media icon! I can see all the music/photo folders on her machine, but no individual files.
damn dodgy stuff going on here
