Archiving mail on a mac...
It's a bit of a pain isn't it?
I liked the Outlook option of archiving, for instance, anything over 12 months old.
Why can't this be done on a Mac?

Take a look at automater it may be able to allow this or someone may have written an automater script to do this.
Have a search for applescripts as well as it should be pretty sime to write one.

What I do (which is not ideal) is simply create a new mailbox, say _2007, move all my old mail into it and then quit mail, go to my user -> library -> mail -> and find that folder and simply move it up a level or two or elsewhere.
What are you trying to achieve? Keep old mail somewhere just not visible in Mail?

Yeah Rich that's pretty much what I was after.
All I've done in Apple Mail is create a Mailbox called Archive and set a rule to move any mails older than 30 days into this mailbox.
I then Archive that to an MBOX file.
