Having just installed tomtom on my iphone I went to set it up the speed camera database ie, set which types off cameras / warning distance settings etc I required but dont actually see them listed as you would with the likes off the tomtom stand alone sat nav units, am I missing something or can the cams not be set on the iphone version off tomtom ??

also take it you cant actually update the cams / change the database to the pocketgps version ??

lastly just come across an in car head up display app for the iphone, yet to test it out yet but so far looks very promising !!!!

I have that HUD, it's good at tracking too.

 

What's it called? I've searched and not seen anything that resembles the one on that Youtube link?

just wonder if you had thought about locating a small square off tinted window film on the front windscreen where the actual display shows up, I see that is what they supply / use on several off the stand alone head up display units on the market.

just wonder what you mean by its good at tracking too ??

The phone is in a silicone case, it stays put in the tray on my dash. I'll definitely try the film on the window trick, thanks for the tip.

 

No probs let me know how you get on, would imagine it will work / show much better with the dark tinted film in place.

 

The tomtom app just has the Camera alerts on, any updates would be through the usual app update, either via the app store on the phone or iTunes......i think.

 

I'm annoyed. Ok it's only 59p but there's 4 different versions of that HUD app and I bought the basic one. I'm loathed to buy the version with speed cameras on it.

 

Okay my version does have the camears on it but to be honest am not 100% sure how good they are, not had a chance to test the app yet- iphone is away getting gold plated just now !! sad yep I know !!!

How will these work in daylight?

 

Not very well I would imagine !!! in saying that with the aid off the tinted window film to help show up the display in may just be usable during daylight hours.

at the price you pay so what if it does not work during the day !!

No camera's on mine and no they don't work in Daylight, there are limits. It's not much more than a novelty item, I used mine quite a bit on a few trips but it usefulness is limited.

Anyone else heard of the hairline cracks (especially on the White ones). Apple will replace your phone FOC if it does show signs of abuse.
