Angry Windows Media Player stopped working

Ever since the last lot of security updates from Windows my media player has stopped working.

I've tried going through Windows help, but that won't start up either.

I've been through the Add/Remove program thing, but all that does is roll me back to a previous version that also doesn't work.

Any ideas?

One thing I did notice whilst trying to remove it, is that the security updates and hotfixes I've had over the last two years out-number all other installed programs by 3:1

I've had this recently and needed to delete the database WMP creates and allow it to build a new one. This Microsoft link explains where it is and how you can remove it.
