Best Iphone Apps so far
Well, I'm enjoying Chopper (basically re-done version of the arcade classic Choplifter, uses the Iphones tilt and accelerometer) alongside Remote (controls Itunes via Wifi) and Shazam (clever bit of code that is!)
Anyone else used the Apps yet? Any recommendations

Another vote for the remote, I keep turning iTunes on for no particular reason. Urbanspoon was great in Los Angeles, but not a lot of use here at home. Currency will definately be handy and with the BA app I won't have to wonder which terminal I should use.

And they're free.
The show off ones are the Carling iPint and the PhoneSaber, the iPint turns your phone in to a pint and as you tip it it empties, and the PhoneSaber turns the iPhone in to a Lightsaber, as you move it around you get the Lighsaber humm and if you jolt it in a direction you get a crash sound as if two lightsabers clashing, my Nephew loves that one.

Remote is meant to be rather good, especially the ATV keyboard bit, so much better than using a remote.
I saw shazzam mentioned on Attack of The Show the other night, handy to know it's on the iPhone, as it used to be a UK only thing I think.
There is also a Pandora client, alas it'll only work if you are US based shame, I really did like Pandora.

Used Shazam a few times, pretty impressed so far.
iPint usually brings a smile when you show it off, Super Monkey Ball is fun but a bit over-rated if you ask me.

'Aurora Feint' is quite a good game (and free) for killing the hours on a boring train journey.
There's an app called 'Banner Free' which allows you to enter some text, and have the iPhone display a scrolling banner of the text. I've used it a lot to quietly announce my feelings in boring meetings at work...
The Remote app is probably the best one so far by miles. So nice to be able to control iTunes or my Apple TV from another room or the dinner table...
That 'Flashlight' app saved the day for this week when the lights went out whilst I was in the toilet at work! LOL

Have a read of this for more info. It was not an intention of the developers to do anything dodgy.

There was another article discussing the limitations of the SDK and how some really great "black market" apps (those available via Installer.app/Cydia) won't ever see the light of day on the App Store for various reasons.
One interesting thing was that there's no real way to beta the apps, as it involves the developer getting the iPhones serial number and given out a certificate to allow the phone to run the app, thus the only way to really test things is to release them to the App Store, then wait for people to use and report back on any issues, not exactly a good thing. Perhaps a development app store might be a good idea.

I don't see a problem asking a beta tester for a unique identifier, I'd welcome it in fact.
"The procedure works like this: a developer will request your iPhone’s unique identifier. The Identifier is 40-character string that can be found in iTunes by clicking on the word “Serial Number” under the Summary tab when your iPhone is connected. You can copy the string by pressing Command-C (Control-C on a PC) for easy emailing."

It's said they may be increasing the number to 100, which makes a bit more sense.

Another candidate for best app and one that's been on the waiting list for a long time. Up and running very nicely here.
Palringo integrates with several popular messaging services : AOL's AIM, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, Gadu Gadu, ICQ, Jabber and Windows Live Messenger.

I have to recommend Last.fm, basically unlimited music streamed to your device, it really is excellent. You set up channels and it learns what you like. I put in Rolling Stones and the next 20 songs it came up with were a great selection of artists - AC/DC, BB King, Cream, Jimi Hendrix etc If you don't like a song just skip it etc. If you put in something like the Ting Tings it will obviously play a load of music related to that genre.
Music – Last.fm
Another is AOL Radio, listen to a few hundred internet stations, including ones like KROQ.
Online Radio - Free Internet Radio Stations - AOL Music
Both apps are free.
