Thanks Marcus. I keep in touch with a very old friend who lives in Washington DC. She has a Mac but not terribly computer literate. I said she ought to think about Skype but she had never heard of it but asked if it would run on her Mac. Hence my query. She also has family scattered across the USA so could be ideal. I assume that it would be well known in US?
Happy New Year btw. Are you still in Canada or wherever you went?

Indeed I am still in Canada and planning on stating (have permanent residency and a wife over here now)
Skype is pretty well known over here, and I mean north america, so it'd not surprise me if other family members don't already use it.
