Slow running CPU fan
Been having problems for a few months now with my computer randomly freezing or shuting down etc-ran a test on it today and it says i have a slow running CPU fan.
Now could it be as simple as buying a new fan and everything be fine or is it likely that the motherbaord is at fault and not giving enough power to the current fan to turn it fast enough?
Is it a case of buy a new fan and see if it works or any other way i can tell-i have a multimeter if anyone knows what voltage the fan should be getting?

download a fan / temp software proggy, and check your CPU temps

Have you checked the BIOS settings for the fan? Most newer systems allow you to set the fan speed. On the Shuttle XPC (over 3 years old) I have, there are a few settings in the BIOS which allows me to control the speed of the fan manually or it can do this automatically.

have hoovered the inside of computer out-also took cpu fan off and blew it through with compressed air-fingers crossed-of course it may not be overheating causing my problems with computer crashing....
