Default Girlfriend has SecurityTool virus on her laptop any known cures

The Security Tool false security virus has appeared.
This is really nasty and wont let her run malwarebytes or anything.
Has anyone had this virus and got round it.
AGV ect etc wont launch and didnt pick it up

Both solutions dont work at the moment

Format and put your stuff back on. It will only take a couple of hours to do all that but you know it will be gone

You tried running in safe mode then setting malwarebytes going?

seem to have got rid of it -eventually got Malwarebytes to run. Still suspicious something lurks beneath the surface. This is a real nasty one...read this lot (where i got the info from to eventually get round it)

safe mode didnt work for quite a while and it doesnt let you run any programme

Glad to hear you got rid of this. Do you know where you picked it up from - a dodgy site or just normal surfing???

Suprisingly not a **** page but normal surfing!
One guy on that link says he got it from you tube???
anyway it just appeared

We are cleaning it now - but we are still under the impression that things might be lurking under the surface.

We shall see!

You can't get a virus from youtube ffs, you or rather she downloaded something dodgy and ran it which infected the lappy.
