I thought full HD was 1920 x 1200, so whats 1920 x 1080 full HD ?
Ive been looking at a new laptop for a while and ideally i want a full HD screen of minimum 17 inch and 1920 x 1200 which i believe is full HD.
As far as i`m aware and using 1920 x 1200 as an example, is that the lines of information displayed on a screen, i stand to be corrected.
Ive seen some screens on a laptop that are 18 inch and say 1920 x 1080 full HD, how can they be full HD at a lesser resolution than 1920 x 1200 ?
Here is an example of one on the link below
Qosmio X500 series - Toshiba
18.4" TruBrite® Full HD (1920 x 1080) High Brightness display
Can someone tell me if 1920 x 1080 is full HD as i was under the impression that 1920 x 1200 was full HD.

1920x1080 is called Full HD (1080p)
1280x720 is called HD (720p)
These resolutions are called 16:9 and is what the film industry standardise on for home viewing.
The 1920x1200 comes about from the computing side of things. This resolution is common on computer screens. These are 16:10 aspect ratio. These can display Full HD with added black bars horizontally top and bottom.
The film industry uses other aspect ratio's in cinemas....
