DV editing on PC

ok , just got the firewire card in and have captured a load of dv to the pc and made a short .avi file with special effects/text etc.

BUT.... when i try and record it back to the dv camera it says it cant cause the signal is ntsc and the camera is pal???

whats that all about?

NTSC is the US standard and PAL is the UK standard.

Did you buy the software in the UK ?

There may be a software option somewhere that you can set to PAL or you may need to get a plug in from the software vendor.

Tiggs you've probably captured in PAL, edited in your editing package and rebuilt the whole clip using the NTSC option in your editing software.

When you've come to send it back to the camera its refused.

Just go into your editing software and rebuild the clip again, but this time encode it using the PAL option instead of NTSC

Good home editing software = Adobe Premiere or Ulead Media Studio Pro
