Just bought a new pc with windows 7. Where is my outlook?
Hi there.
On my old pc I use outlook express. I was gonna transfer all my emails to the new pc only to find that windows 7 doesn't even come with outlook?
I have an office 60 day trial but outlook isn't included in that. Do I really have to buy office to get outlook?

I think Windows Live Mail is pretty good. I transferred my mail store straight into it from Vistas Windows Mail.

I think it was something to do with the contacts that peed me off, I had my contacts syncing nicely with Windows 7 but Windows Live Mail seemed to use a different address book. That may have been fixed now as I only used it while it was free. Integration with Gmail IMAP was a bit clunky as well, but again that could have been fixed.
Why exactly did Microsoft remove Outleek?

Your probably better off moving to online email, such as GMail or Windows Live. You can normally forward mails from your old address to these new accounts so you won't lose emails from people who forget to update your address. Online email saves you from having to backup your contacts and emails, its a management free solution that is good for home users.
If you want to manage your own email then its Office Outlook or Thunderbird imo. Thunderbird is OK, but its no Outlook. When I tried it last it was not that great.

I use Thunderbird for all my own business emails and my main client uses Outlook (they give me an Outlook powered lappy).
Outlook is great in a corporate environment, however I have not really found Thunderbird wanting for my needs.
Personally I MUCH prefer offline email solutions as I can manage my email and contact database much more effectively.
