erm...I get this to work how??!! 
manual is a chocolate tea-pot for this
can do everything else in this game but how do i get this showtime crash malarky to work offline ???!!!!
(and yes I have more than four events completed unless "events" has a new meaning in the English language purely for this game!)

You must have won at least 4 events before you can go into Road Rules mode - press up on the D-pad to see if you can go into Road Rules mode. But it is indeed L1+R1 together to activate showtime.
