Default website problems

can anyone help with a problem i've been having for the past couple of days?

When trying to get to certain websites (scoobynet was 1 until today?) i get the internet explorer cannot display the webpage
I've been using the websites for several years with no problems and can't recall altering any settings

I've deleted temp files/ cookies/ recent/ etc and even restored to a previous point (a week ago) but nothing has helped

any ideas?

thanks

I would take a guess those sites were all owned by Internet Brands, which is the company that owns ScoobyNet. Why do I say this? Because IB have been experiencing severe network problems and their own site and those they hosted were inaccessible for the past couple of days.

I think the IB website might list all the sites they own, but not being able to get onto the IB website doesn't help much Wikipedia's article on IB lists some of the sites, so I tried getting onto those listed and could not.

I also used the "whois" command in unix (I think dos should have this as well). For scoobynet I entered whois scoobynet.com and whois returned the following:

Code:
Whois Server Version 2.0

   Domain servers in listed order:
      DNSCDC.CARSDIRECT.COM
      DNSLA.CARSDIRECT.COM

That's a lot of info! The bit of interest is the last portion the Domain servers bit. I knew that CarsDirect was a forum owned by IB, so I did the same whois on them and the Domain Servers portion returned the same info. What I then did was a whois on another forum I was having problems with (britishexpats.com). I wasn't sure at the time if that was an IB site, seems it is though, going from the domain server record which is:

Code:
 Domain servers in listed order:
      DNSCDC.INTERNETBRANDS.COM
      DNSLA.INTERNETBRANDS.COM
I did the same whois on a few other sites listed in the wikipedia entry, for example corvetteforum.com and again the domain servers were as above, so I new they were IB sites. All of the sites I tried I could not access and all of them were owned by IB.
