Sky on Xbox 360
#2
This is what I wrote on another thread in NSR (about the PS3 iPlayer):
=-=
The Sky Player has been released today and I've managed to play with it for a few minutes (between network overloads and crashes ).
If you subscribe to Sky (I do) then the on-demand stuff is free (movies) but you need the Sky Multi-room (which I don't have) to access the live channels. The quality of the streamed movies seems good (again in the 2 minutes before it crashed) and the whole thing is a good idea when they sort out the teething problems.
I'd still like the iPlayer though ...

I am already registered with Sky so just had to log in.
Having said that, the application disapeared so I guess they completely pulled it until tomorrow (well, later today).

Is this ever likely to be much cop over ADSL? As most houses struggle to get over 2MBs unless you're lucky enough to be on an unbundled exchange and even then it's hit and miss. If you're on cable presumably you'll also have TV from them so get all the Sky channels etc.

Mine still hasn't reappeared. Apparently the release is being staggered so it will appear sometime this evening or tomorrow. Yours may be there now!
It is okay over ADSL -- I expect that the ISPs wont be very happy if people use it a lot.

I've got it working, but the only thing I seem to be able to watch is Sky News, most of the other stuff I have to pay 98p for, which is a con as its already been broadcast.

Mine still wont download. Sigh.
Chris: Are you a sky subscriber? If you subscribe to movies you will be able to watch those on demand. If you have multiroom you will be able to stream and watch things that have been transmitted in the last 30 days for free.
(again, I still want the iPlayer )

I've got all the channels bar the movies and sports and no multiroom. It's a free Sky movies weekend this weekend but it won't let you stream them.

This is finally up and running properly and I have to say I'm quite impressed. They seem to have sorted out the performance issues and I can select all the movies to play plus some on demand Sky 1 stuff.
I'm not really interested in the live streaming as the Xbox is connected to the same television as Sky.
The quality is better than DivX.

You have to have a sky account (the app contacts the sky website to determine what channels etc you have payed for). Not sure that it will work through Virgin.
