Just for you
My iphone 3.1.2 needed to be jailbroken - I wanted the ability to put on text alerts (my own)
Downloaded Blackrain - and the problem was that it wouldn't install.
Got to the "make it rain" page, the phone would restart and hang on the next page.
Itunes would go nuts too.
Restarted phone, and it said it had installed Blackrain, but of course, it hadn't.
Anyhoo, tried it a couple of times, and eventually, it did!!
Just trying now to put the different ringtones on there.
Naming them is easy (keeping the existing names) - I want to back em up using Winterboard too.
Bit tricky this bit!!

3G perhaps? From what I recall Geohot said that it could take a few attempts at running blackra1n to get it to jailbreak a 3G, he is working on a RC2 of it which in theory should clear up the 3G issues.
If using ringtones, I'd go with a copy of iToner and use that to get them on the phone. It keeps local copies of them as well, so they are on the machine if you need to sync them back again.

Yeh - guessed that.
Ended up putting ringtones on using Fetch FTP et al - really easy tbh.
I've also got WinterBoard, but I need to RTFM this app
LOVE Cycorder!!! who needs a 3gs?
