Overheating perhaps ?

Is your CPU and your graphics card well ventilated ?

Games are the main culprits for causing both of these items to heat beyond their typical working temperatures.

Or, do you have any applications runnings in the background that routinely spring into life, that could be disrupting your games? eg. is outlook express attempting to dial the internet ?

What sort of system are you running ?

CPU & Speed ?
Video Card ?
Overclocking ?
Addditional Fans/Cooling in your box ?

PS: I run a GeForce3 Ti500 with WinXP Pro without ANY problems.

The issue with Windows XP & GeForce cards seems to be specifically related to AMD processors using VIA chipsets. If your using Intel you should be OK.

I've had this problem with graphics drivers before. The latest drivers for my Matrox G400 are terrible in this respect, but I managed to find an older one that's pretty stable. Try just changing the drivers for your video card for a different version.

Andy.
