Okay anyone here able to recommend a free software that will alow me to convert half a dozen cd a files into an mp3 type formatt ?? have seen a few software titles advertised that claim to do the job but all seem to want to convert them from a cd , I already have the files on my pc to start with.

as i say just looking for a nice easy to use software that I can convert the files without too much hassle !!

such a programme ??

Thats great thanks so much for the link, unfortunatly no joy so far in using it, has failed to convert the file to mp3, its showing as an mp3 after conversion but no media player will recognise it for some reason I have tried windows media player. realplayer etc but all say file not reconised.

anyone any advice on what I am doing wrong ??

have no tried two different programmes for the conversion and although they have both apparantly converted the cda file to mp3 again no player will recognise the new mp3 file ??

totally confused ??!!

What's the file size of the .cda files?

I thought .cda files were just pointers to the tracks on an audio CD and didn't have any real content themselves...

In which case Jono, you'll need the audio CD again to rip the tracks to MP3

Okay guys thanks for that your right, silly me just noticed the size off the cda file which was 1kb !!!

ah well you learn something everday !!

thought it strange that most conversion software were looking for you to point the conversion software to the original cd source !!
