Default Xbox update help

Hello

For the last couple of days I haven't been able to sign into Live (or annoyingly play any TV/Movies as it requires to be connected). The console, starts, logs in, says there is an update and then say 'Update Failed'. If I test the internet connection, it fails at connecting to Xbox Live.

The router is fine, the ISP (BeThere) is fine, I have tried switching on the console whilst holding down the sync button the clear the cache, I've manually deleted the system files (media update etc..) from the hard drive, I've removed at reattached the hard drive. Frankly, I'm at a loss.

Over on xbox.com there appears to be a few people having this problem but as you are all MUCH more intelligent and helpful, I thought I would ask here ....

Thanks.

Okay, I got so frustrated I actually called support. Apparently the problem is that my account has been locked for some reason and as such I can't apply any updates (and hence can't connect to Xbox Live).

I have to wait THREE weeks for the account to be unlocked.

Not impressed.

As a side thought, can you not download the update from a MS website and burn it to CD ?

Unfortunately it appears to not have the correct update to download.

Anyway, I have the old X-Box out with XBMC and it works well still after all these years!
