Default I want a big, expensive laptop...

But all I need it for is editing home videos off a hard disc video camera, surfing the net and managing my iPod.

So what spec do I need?

Ta!

Dell has the fire breathing M6400, 'mobile workstation' I think they call it, that can take upto 16 gig of RAM. Other advantages I'm aware of include no need for gym membership or heating for your office/work space

Macbook Pro.

I've recently bought 'only' a 15" model. I love it. Especially the lovely LED screen and fantastic battery life.

The Gadget Show did a piece on HD video editing last year and Suzi Perry's max'd out Sony Vaio failed miserably, crashing constantly and not completing the task. The bald guy used his own mid-spec MacBook (not even a Pro) and found it a doddle.
