Games for Windows LIVE - update
Just reading up on this now.
GFWL Client 3.0 is out! - Games for Windows Live
Updated client, has an intresting addition
Server Side Authentication
This links your games licence to your gamertag, this essentially means that the used pc game market for GFWL titles will be dead.
Linking a game licence to your tag means you could not even give away the disc to a mate when you are finished with it, as they will be unable to play the game without your gamertag
It does not really affect me to be honest, i only have one GFWL title (gears of war) BUT anybody buying preowned copies of games like gears or fallout 3, will get shafted if the current owner has played the game on the new update
To be honest, i can see this probably causing more people to move into pirate versions, if they cant buy a cheap second hand copy ?
I know PC games generally are worth next to nothing in the used game market anyway, my local games shop has a small section of preowned games available for the PC, and they are cheap as hell (i bought stalker for 3quid lol!)
