All,

I'm testing the cable modem at 1024 kb/ sec and it bloody fast. Now I've had a 512 kb/sec link for nearly two years and thought that was fine. Upgraded last week, to test with a new modem type and bloody hell.

Anyone else out there testing or using a CM at this speed ?

Oh and trying a new Netgear RP114 router and that's fantastic as well...

Cheers Phill C

PS I think it will eventually cost £49 per month

People like you make me sick.... Just think for a moment about us poor unfortunate souls who rely on 56K modems and ISDN before spouting off with 'I have had 1/2 Mb for 2 years and its slow so I've upgraded to a 1Mb' nonsense...

Phil are they increasing the upload bandwidth as well?

I've not tested it, but if you want to put my name down to test for BY (the support guys know me well enough, i'm the one who used to moan at them for about 2/3 hours a day)

I'll have to speak to my local franchise, if i ask them for something they jump! i am amazing at the compensation i got out of them!

32k upload thats 256k

I dont want to change my modem though, i've got a Surfboard 3100i which is absolutly brilliant, no problems ever!

IanW,

The service might be released in August!!

We need to upgrade the Network to support it. Local Region won't know anything about it. Where do you live ?

Phil

When can we find out the areas in which this service will be available m8 ?

did u ever have any success seeing when standard cable might be available down my way ?

i'm actually in the process of buying a house around Exeter so to check on if its likely to get this service would be great !!

mail me offline if u want....

Would that be near Newton Abbott ?

Both old Eurobell regions are having the headends built as we speak, so will be a few months, once all the Network aligment has been done. Sorry forgot to reply before.

Beta testers for a 2 meg, are you sure ??

Well the cable modems will do 10 meg in the present format, but it will be a while before that happens. Need to ditch analogue first!!!

Steve,

No distance limitations mate. Make sure you can have Analogue from the old Eurobell, and that's it!!!

We have digital pictures now, in the headend, Network will need a recommission and a few adjustments. A matter of a couple of months I would expect. I'll keep you informed.

2 Meg for business ..

Definetly - Do you not work for Telewest?? If so email me and i will give you the project managers name etc..

It is the dogs bollox... Up against a 2 Meg ADSL it walks all over it for download rate but that will be partly because there are only two users on our UBR!!

Jeff Wiltshire,

Someone's tired

IanW,

Sorry mate plenty of people willing to test. The downstream settles around 130 Kb sec, upload is around 32 Kb sec on FTP.

That site reported 538 Kb/s ???

I have a different cable modem as well a SA DPX110 which is quite cool.

Cheers Phill C

PS Please don't uncap your modems yourselves, we know you have done it and countermeasure are in the pipeline. We have the ability to switch you off straight away
