Build your own.....

Intel Core i7 Processor (hear the 920 overclocks nicely )
Suitable motherboard for the above.
Triple channel memory kit (3x2GB)
Couple of hard drives (striped RAID).
Best graphics card(s) you can afford.
Case
Massive power supply
DVD / Blueray burner.
Monitor
etc.

Screw it all together and job's a good'un

that spec is **** poor for the price, typical pc world, always extreamly pricey.

22-003 Intel Crossfire DDR3 Gaming PC - DinoPC.com

not used the company but typical example. same spec is a few quid under £700.

add all the options on that and you roughly at £1400, would be a mega fast gaming platform though

I don't know what sort of spec you really need for graphics modelling, but my current little rig that i have just built is handling every game i throw at it with ease so far.

Although i am still using 1024x768 screen res, and XP which no doubt helps things.

Q6700 cpu which overclocked to 3.3ghz on air
GTX 275 graphics card
2gb cheap ddr2 memory.

every game i have tried so far has been on max settings

Crysis (i used the little "hack" to get the ultra high settings)
Arma 2
Terminator Salvation (don't laugh, i got it free with the GFX card LOL!)

etc etc.

need to jump to the next generation to realy test it, plus some of the strategy games that have lots and lots of things moving. most modern day shootem up's are pretty low graphics and ram requirement

Arma 2 is a complete system killer!

Mainly due to the sloppy and lazy code, but max details and max viewing distance has brought down many a system so far

Shame the game is a bit sketchy (i am still playing the demo tbh)

I'd have to say get yourself on overclockers.co.uk and buy yourself an already overclocked system.
As recommended above the i7 (SLBEJ) chip is the one to look for.
