Im off to florida in just over a month and want to get an Xbox (gonna sell my PS2 which I never use) so Im looking for the best deal. Anyone know of any good places around Orlando or close by where I could pick one up at discount? Ive seen em in Walmart for $400 but Im guessing thats before tax so not a significant saving TBH.
Any other issues I should be aware of buying a US X-box other than needing an NTSC compatible TV and a power adaptor?
Cheers,
Simon.

A good place to try might be sams (i think it was called) kinda like a cash and carry, they had all sorts of electrical stuff when i went in there. theres one of them on Orange blossom trail from memory, may be a costco (which is also cheap).
(they also stocked cheap dvds etc).
be aware you might have to pay cash if you buy from a toys r us type place, we had to in new york as they werent supposed to sell to non us residents.

The more I look at them it appears that we aint doing that badly with the UK release price. Walmart are selling the console and one controller for around £265 and like everything in the US I doubt that includes state tax so its gonna be nearer £300 if not more. The UK release price is £298. So unless Im looking in the wrong places, us brits are getting a pretty good price TBH!

Nad u cant play US games on a UK box - hmmm so much for that idea. Think Ill sell the PS2 and wait a few months until X-box comes down in price.

That doesn't surprise me as there probably using the country coding of the dvd to check for it. Will probably find a chip comes out which will allow you to play em. (or perhaps even the boot cd's that allow region free watching will get round them).

Apparently the DVD region coding and the game region coding is different according to what Ive read on the relevant US and UK Xbox newsgroups.
