Moving house - Sky BB any good or other?
Move into my new house in a couple of weeks but i can't get my trusty Virgin BB that i've had for years. As i'll be having Sky tv i need to know if their BB service is upto it. Not into downloading much other than the odd MP3 and only really use the net for email and browsing although i am getting into going online with the PS3. Sky BB is the cheap option but if it's crap then i'm prepared to pay a few more £ for the service which will suit my needs - BT BB??
Cheers

The ping is the time it takes for data to do the trip between your computer / console and the server hosting the game and back.
Lower is better. If you've got a high latency, then you find things like shots you thought was a dead hit will miss, getting shot before you've even seen the other player, etc.

A couple of months ago I switched from BT Broadband which to be fair, never really let me down to BE Broadband. BE are part of O2 and it's been fantastic!
They use ADSL2+ so whereas I was getting about 2.5mbps with BT I'm now getting over 6.0mbps (Due to distance from my local telephone exchange)
It all depends whether your local telephone exchange has the BE kit installed in it as to whether you can get it or not. You can check that on the BE homepage
With BE, running online speedtests show no drop in the performance whatever time of day I try whereas I found with BT that during peak hours (6.00pm-11.00pm) I was achieving less than 1.0mbps.
Have a look at some of the reviews on the web for BE and you'll find a lot of people saying the same as me!
Good luck
Nick
P.S: We spoke on the phone one night about data recovery if you recall!!
