Yup: When the modem/router at work started to die.

Dropping packets on the internal ethernet, and refusing to talk to one of the switches. And then the internet just going s**t slow for no reason.

lol ouch well tiscalli are pants so thats about right for them

you tried the usual reseting the modem and checking cables etc

Yea nearly every evening, my line is getting throttled to hell
from 5pm till 12am

back in 2003 when on Virgin ADSL it would just stop literally on the weekends, ceased the line (you couldn't migrate back then) and went to Plusnet who were tidy

Give your Phone line provider a call and ask them to do a line check. I had the same problem, they checked the line and spotted a fault.
Next day an enginer came out with his laptop 30 mins later fixed the faults 4 hrs later had 4mb and still have. Before i had 256k!!

maybe try using another dns server.

google them up if in doubt.

or pm me and i'll send you some to try.

find out what yours is and ping test it.

then try another one and compare the response times.

might help
