Question Excel Gurus - need to pick your brains...

Scenario -

Got a simple list of names.
I've conditional formatted a colour scheme to assign them visually to a group (or in this case a course)

What I would like to do is when the course is chosen, for excel to generate a name list from this on a different sheet. (bit like a database extraction of specific people from a generic list)

Get my drift?

eg

Joe Bloggs. Basketweaving
Fred Flintstone Baking
Hugh Garse Basketweaving

I would like the conditional format to generate a 2nd (and 3rd) sheet with the various people on it in relation to what course they're doing.

Is this possible?

Easiest would be a pivot table with a "course" filter on the next sheet(s)

Yes, you can do it using the 'Advanced Filter' and using the course name as your criteria.

This guide should help (just the first one I came across, there are plenty more).

Excel Filters -- Advanced Filter

Let me know if need help.

Edit: Or that above

Pivot will do what you *said* you wanted...

Where's it not doing what you want?

LOL - I'm just inept at this!! Seems like I've reached my limits of talent with Excel. Or (hopefully) it's because I'm using Excel 2008.
Is anybody willing to have a look at my .xls sheet? All data has been changed to protect the names....

Anybody?
