Default Help is sending / receiving email " rar " file

Trying to send an email to a mates pc, the email I am sending contains a rar file which is showing as sent within my outlook express programe and as yet ( couple off days ) has still not been returned back even thou the other pc has not received it, this has happened before when attempting to send an email containing a similar type file to him.

bit confused why his pc will not allow him to receive an email containg such a file type ?? he is using Nod32 av, is not getting an alert to say that it is blocked so is there possibly a setting within outlook express that he has not set up correctly so as to receive such attachments ??

both off us are using xp.

any advice would be great.

thanks

Try a different compression method.

Someone's spam or email filter is blocking it. Try sending a zip file instead.

It's pretty harsh filtering to bin the mail, usually, av products and filters will bin the attachment. I use nod but not for mail, does he have a quarantine folder somehwere where it's been sidelined?
Does he receive a text mail from you?

Rename the file so the extension is .txt instead of .rar, then just rename it at the recipients end back to .rar

I think some email can be filtered not to accept any type of attachment. Maybe his settings are like that by default.
