Windows updates ??
Just wonder how important it is to regulary update windows xp ?? must admitt its something I often neglect but as I am kinda particular about my av software etc I always consider my pc to be as secure as you can possibly be nowadays.

The Conficker.c worm is not 'going active' - it's just changing how many sites it connects to to get instructions.
If you're patched with MS08-067 and have active AV sorted you'll be fine.
However, the moral is (and this from an IT security guy) you MUST keep your p.c. fully patched. AV on its own will NOT protect you from conficker - it bypasses and can easily get onto fully up to date AV protected p.c.'s if they are not patched.
