New corporate pc’s
I am looking into replacement PC’s for our entire company and was looking for somea dvice. We are currently using Dell Optiplex desktops and all need replacing.
What’s currently on the market and is good? I’m open to different brands but has to be Windows based.
I really want somethings small and simple to make moving them around easy. Something like the iMac’s or Sony VAIO E7400 would be superb but they are too expensive.

What about Mac mini's instead of iMacs? Very small form factor, and I'm going to assume that the current setups are not all-in-one items, thus you can utilize the existing keyboard, mouse and monitor with the mini.
As they are intel based you can run XP/Vista on them. You don't actually even need OS X on them, though I'd advise you to have a small OS X partition (say 10GB) to allow you to install any firmware updates, as the installers will need to be run from OS X and not Windows.

The big driver behind the swap is the warranties on the current hardware, some have either expired or will expire very soon.
I have considered the Thin Client route but I don't know enough out them at the moment. Can you install software on them?
Any more ideas peeps?

HP Business desktops.. good tools available for doing things like configuring the bios remotely or via scripts.. Predictive failure stuff is good.. and you can log calls via the web page...
HP every time for Windows.
Thin clients run ICA / RDP sessions, or run VDI through vmware, licensing can be pricey though.

Thanks David, does the Predictive failure stuff come as standard or is it part of an enhanced support level package?

See post number 2 from DJ Dunk...........I'm using one of these now
I'm not very computer literate but all the PC's our NHS Trust use are "HP Compaq" branded and for the last 8 years every PC in every clinic / office I have ever been has worked.
It's a different picture with the Dell's at another Trust I work for !!
Just my 2 p's worth LOL
