Default standerd virgin box straight swap for HD?

Hi all.

I currently have standard virgin tv package and was thinking of getting their HD box.
Instead of upgrading through them and paying a fortune I was wandering if I could buy a HD box second hand and fit it to the current wiring?

Has anyone done this?

Would it work?

Thanks

The service code on your account would not match that of a V+ box.

Although the services are provisioned to your card ! .. you would need to pair the card to the box ..

If this is not done you would get error 2110.. then you would only get channels 1-5 ..

As I understand it .. I'm not a DTV person though.. I'm networks and BBI.

Thanks Pimmo.

I didn't think it would be straight forward, just didn't fancy paying the extra 100+ for an upgrade

Who's to say you didn't bring the box from another property you owned ?

I don't see why it couldn't be added to your account ... so long as the box wasn't chipped.

We did exactly the same with Sky.

We had a Sky+ box and I bought a HD box from an independent retailer.

One phone call to Sky and they activated the box.

Easy.

Or you could buy a Virgin HD box with a 'cough' cheaper subscription
