Unhappy PC issue after download of video

Anyone got a clue as to my problem...?

I downloaded a(non-dirty) video that didn't work when trying to playback on WMP, but soon after, my laptop decided to shutdown with a blue screen to tell me it was protecting itself, and then restart.

It can stay on my account for a few seconds or a few minutes, but will shutdown and restart again at any time.

I tried using google to search for a site and when clicking on the we address, the address bar started taking me to a few different address's. I never gave it time to stop on one and shut the window down.

I've still to contact Dell customer support, but was hoping someone on here may know what has happened....i'm thinking a trojan of some sorts, but not sure how to sort it.

I'm running Vista btw.

Sound like spyware embedded in the video that is causing one of your driver (probably graphics) to fail.

Boot into safe mode with networking and run Anti Virus and spyware scans.

The spyware stuff can't update and therefore can't work.

I've only just downloaded them. I had McAfee before and figured that would have been enough....obviously not.

Did you select Safe mode with NETWORKING like I suggested for that reason

Yep. It seems to have an issue with the server or something...
