Exchange 2003 bounce message
Hi
I'm having problems sending some mail to some reciepiants
I'm getting the bounce:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: FW: Proforma invoice 198352
Sent: 03/03/2009 16:36
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
barratt@fitness-in-XXXX.com on 03/03/2009 16:37
The message cannot be delivered due to a configuration error on the server. Please contact your Administrator.
<mail.physicalcompany.co.uk #5.3.0 smtp;553 5.3.0 REJECT # Delivery not authorized>
Any ideas?

if the exchange server is delivering most mail I would suspect the recipients domain or your ISP
especially if they leave your exchange org
do you use DNS or a smart host to deliver mail
AOL are notorious for bouncing back email

You shouldnt really be using root DNS servers for lookups
Ive had a strange one that our ISP can resolve a particular domain name, we use the ISP's DNS servers and we cannot resolve the name
So I had to create a specific forwarder for that Domain Name to go to a public DNS server that could resolve it
Also been getting a few bounce backs from Exchange 2007 to specific Domains, saying No Such Recipient, but the recipient does exist
I am guessing that it is down to reverse DNS failing but our hosting company still havent added a reverse DNS entry
