Posting this on behalf off my young son, he is trying to get into the cheat mode for the grand theft auto 4 game on his xbox 360, according to the online guides you have to press up and you will get the cell phone, press up again and it will let you enter numbers.

problem is that once he presses up he gets the cell phone appearing but only half the number keypad is shown on the screen, if he presses up again nothing happens ??

so for anyone who has played this game with the cheat options can you please advise so that I can pass the info on and I may get a bit off rest tonight !!!!!

 

press down i think but not sure after bringing phone up, just keep pressing buttons if he cant find how to do it

Okay thanks mate, for some reason thou we are still only getting the top part off the phone on the screen and only around the top line off the keypad so cant navigate around the keypad yet ??!!

I'm assuming he's pressing up on the direction pad and not any of the sticks?

First up brings up the phone, only the numbers 1-3 show.

Up again brings up the full number pad.

Think he is at the first level just past nicos house ?? read on youtube that someone else could not get the mobile phone to show fully on screen when they tried pressing up twice there was mention that it would not if you were in multiplayer mode ??

how to you select single player mode and will try and see if this works ??

 

I think that explains it. You don't actually have a phone when you start the game. You have to do a few missions until Roman gives you his phone.

You'll be able to access the keypad then.

Okay quick update from son re. this GTA4 game, anyone able to offer any advice on how to actually get a gun once past nico`s house ?? he has had the gun before but he lost it and cant get it back, he is not sure what buttons etc he needed to press.

How old is he? Guns will slowly be getting introduced into the game!

All this talk about it's has made me get it back out and finish completing it

he can get a bat but just not the gun, he has had the gun but not sure what he pressed to actually get it ??!! and why he actually lost it ??

 

right just been playing it, press right on the directional pad and he has to have guns availble to him when the gun shops are available.

and the cheat menu is up twice on the phone but!!! he has to get so far to be able to do this as said before.
