Default installing ubuntu on old spec laptop

got ubuntu 8.10 on CD but i cant seems to install it on a low spec laptop. when i select install on HDD, it just goes into the ubuntu live cd. the CD is OK as on a better spec laptop, it will install on the HDD.

the low spec laptop is a PII with 128mb RAM. works OK with windows 2000 workstation so surely can work with ubuntu.

what am i doing wrong?

Have a look through the recommended computer specification and you'll see that Xubuntu fills requirement.

You computer spec is probably too low for Ubuntu. I tried on the a similar specification laptop and then decided it was more use as a door stop!!
