Default Laptop format question...

Hi folks need a probably rather simple question answering. Bear with me I'm a retard on PC's!!
I bought a laptop recently and it has a few defects so I'm taking it back for a relpacement. My question is...

How do I completely restore the lappy back to its shop setting? I need to remove iTunes, AVG and pics etc...

Do I do a system restore or format or what?
Its a Dell on Vista BTW...

Cheers in advance!!

You should be able to use the disks that came with the machine to perform a system restore, which should remove all the data from the disk and put a clean version of the operating system onto the machine. You will want to backup any music/pictures/any other data you want to keep before doing this as they will be lost during the restore.
