xbox live router help
ive just got an xbox 360 and its set up in the room next to where i have my internet connection im on virgin media and use a laptop(not wireless enabled)via ethernet cable for the internet, what i want to know is can i get a router that is not wireless?(all the ones i have seen are wireless) so i can run a cable from a router to the next room and connect to xbox live? what will i need and can anyone reccomend anything?

You can still buy a Cable router that's wireless which will also have at least 4x RJ-45 network ports. Just means you can switch off the wireless function on the router. I would recommend something like Dreytek router as these are one of the best makes out there. Try having a look on Wireless Router, ADSL Modem/Router, Broadband/Cable Router, VoIP, NAS | Broadbandbuyer.co.uk

i know you dont want wireless but i got a router from pc world for 50 quid with a wireless dongle specefic to virgin media too i had to set up a non firewall protected isp to get it to work with xbox live

If you buy a decent router (i.e. not a £50 jobby from pc world) then you shouldn't need to do anything special to get it working with xbox live. The 360 uses upnp, so if you get a decent one, you don't even need to open any ports or assign static ip addresses.
I'm currently using a Netgear WPN824. Cable modem plugs into the router, pcs, xbox, ps3 etc plug into the other holes, and voila it all just works out of the box
