PS3 or Xbox?
after getting a PS3 and owning an Xbox360 i can get an unbiased opinion on both.
if you like gaming and sometimes want to just chill out having a race or shooting your mates in the face buy an Xbox360
If you like constantly downloading bull**** on your first night of ownership of a PS3 so that its 22:47 and you still haven't got to shoot someone or race something buy a PS3
What a pile of turd!!!!

i'm on my 57th millionth update at the mo, anytime i go to do something it needs to update ffs. Load of **** in my opinion and a really tiny Jeremy Beadle style controller.
Really not impressed at all.

Having owned both for over a year now, I can safely say that's my opinion of the PS3 as well.
Pretty much a waste of money so far. Of the 3 consoles, the 360 gets most of my time, the Wii 2nd, and the PS3 a distant 3rd.
Just waiting for God of War 3 at the moment (really the only reason I haven't ditched the console yet) and maybe Uncharted 2 (hoping it's better than the first one).

Got one race in GT5 Prologue last night. It was rubbish, controller feels numb compared to the Xbox360's, cornering it dreadful, braking is ON/OFF and in my opinion Forza2 looks better!
So i turned off the PS3 and played MegaMan6 on a Nes Emulator on the Laptop. far more enjoyable.

Graphics in GT5 are definitely nicer, but I feel that the perfection makes them look a tad clinical and plastic, (and of course there is no attempt at damage modelling). Graphics are not really the most important thing though. It's how the game plays that counts, and Forza (imo) is miles ahead (especially online) of the bumper car racing that is GT5.

I prefer the PS3 controller, but I do have small hands.
I do think that the online service of the PS3 leaves a bit to be desired, but I don't really get any problems playing games.
I can't believe that the 360 situation is any different regarding game updates though?
As a quick aside, I got Resistance 2 for ma boy at the weekend, and it looks absolutely stunning. It may be a pig to develop for, but when something is developed on it as opposed to ported to it, the difference is very noticeable.

Just bought a 40GB of a mate, 8 games, extra controller with the vibration, 2 Blu Ray films for £240, will sit under the telly with the 360 and wii, might as well have the option

My 360 is now banned from live, RROD all the time and I have to keep unplugging the fans and let it overheat and the dvd drive reads dvd's so badly I hit things I cannot see in driving games because they haven't loaded yet. I use this more than my ps3.
I use my ps3 for divx because since I have been banned I cannot download the codec on my 360.
I will shortly be buying a new 360 lol.

I was given a 360 after fixing a friends computer and they gave it to me as payment - it had RROD. Microsoft repaired it within 2 weeks. I didn't really like it that much - the GUI I prefer over the PS3. After being disappointed with Forza 2 I sold the console.
I got a PS3 with a phone contract and have GT5 which I've played twice. Colin Dirt I've played relentlessly and am currently working my way through Dead Space but can't play it until my daughter is in bed. I bought Little Big Planet off ebay for £20 so looking forward to home time.
Updates take a while but no bother. Reasonably content online although I don't really use it online.

So as a PS3 owner do I take it that the Xbox never asks to update either itself or for games? Personally Ive never had anything take that long and mine is still connected via wifi.
GT5 I didnt like at first after playing GRID on the PC. But then I played it some more and love it. The online racing is annoying - the penalties arent consistent. You slightly touch another car and get a penalty they then ram you into the barrier and get away with it yet you get a penalty for contact. Aaargh. And it takes ages to connect to race some times. Is funny though blitzing all those super cars in your uprated Clio V6

I've no idea what CGS is.
You can slipstream like that in Forza2 if you have damage turned off. Try it on the proper settings and you'll not get very far

Championship Gaming Series - pro players from around the world so one would think they were using "pro" settings.
I tried GT5 in pro mode and could not get anywhere with digital throttle as was wheelspinning in first 3 gears

Well with all the damage modelling etc turned on, you'll knacker your car on the first "ram", so I doubt they did have everything turned on.
Digital controls are just plain wrong for driving games
