What's the most difficult/memorable end of level 'boss' you've ever played against?

For me it was the end of the second 'chapter' of Doom 1.

You go up in a lift and hear this whum whum whum whum and think 'What the ***** THAT!' Then you notice the 100's of rockets, armour etc laying around and then Hmm this is going to be tricky.

Then you open the door and there's that 70ft high Cyber-demon that fires rockets at you

So for me the DOOM cyberdemon wins it. The end of game spider thing was a nancy boy compared to the CD.

Has to be Sephiroph (sp?) in Final Fantasy VII on PS1.

The end sequence was just amazing, starting with the haunting music, and when he uses his planet power up thing it is out of this world. You are actually scared (****ting your pants) as the thing is flying down from the universe, past Venus etc etc.

The way you have to balance your players, health, and magic was just unbelievable.

Sorry you guys, there is no competition. The Cyber Demon was without doubt the scariest thing ever.

Sephitroth was a wuss. By the time i'd play through everything in FF7 i'd have all level 99 characters with Knights of the round etc etc. So therefore all you did was cast regen, big guard, Hades, KOTR (using W-summon) then mime then mime then mime etc etc.

If you linked clouds ultimate weapon with Hades you'd inflict status damage. Link final attack with pheonix for a member in each party then you're covered.

Emerald weapon was a reall b*stard though. Took 20 minutes of constant battling to kill it. If I remember rightly it had a million HP and it's first attack did 9998 HP worth of damage

You should see the next Doom? Not out yet but Oh Boy, you will like this if you like the Cyber Demons.... And if you like Doom 1 get it on Game Boy Advance and this can be easily carried in a Scooby. No CB's (they couldnt get them in there) but still superb for Doom fans.

Dunno bout hardest but playing AVP2 in pitch black at 2am in the morning is the scariest thing Ive ever played.

Playing in full surround sound I was the marine walking along with the pulse rifle and I suddenly heard the beep, beep of the proximity scanner...hmm cant see any damn aliens.

BOOM roof explodes with steam everywhere and I loosen off a whole clip from my pulse rifle only to find that the alien I thought I was shooting at, was actually an electricity cable whipping around..DOH..time to change me pants

Similar experiences with the various Resident Evils. Always got the hairs on my back up when you pressed the Start button, when the guy goes "RESIDENT EVIL!"

End of level (or equiv) bosses were always a piece of dried up pi55 in the corner, most annoying thing was walking around for ages tried to find some stupid bl00dy key. Usually gave up and went onthe net for the walk throughs
