Default Recommendation - Need a good Laptop for £330

Hi all

Brother needs a laptop for his lady and his kids. Going to used for the internet, homework, kids / early learning applications. They dont really want a statis pc, and really want a laptop.

Currently have a crappy IBM laptop which I got them from work, but this is well knackered. They are hard wired to the internet, so want to go wireless. Would be cool if the new laptop has sound / camera.

Intended users have basic windows knowledge. Budget is around £330

So, was thinking Acer, or Dell ??

Being a wise group of IT users, opinions ? thoughts ? Recommendations ? Best place to buy from ?

cheers

Buy TOSHIBA SAT L350-170 | 17" widescreen laptop - Laptops | Comet

Slightly over the budget but a good buy.

I would prefer if it wasnt pushed down to computer related as I need to get one asap. This area gets more traffic than the ones below, hence creating it this section.

Cheers

Not too bad dell deals here
Dell Inspiron 1525 Cheap Deals, Discount Vouchers and Evalue Codes

Pretty much any netbook falls into that budget, Samsung NC10 is a good one.

I've just bought the Toshiba L300 from John Lewis, there are different specs for the L300, some cheaper than the £370 I paid.

Buy Toshiba Satellite Laptop, L300-1AP, 2GHz with 15.4 Inch Display online at JohnLewis.com

Just wonder if that will get the nickname "SnapTop" too
I've seen the model you linked to in store and it looked pretty well made and a decent low price.
My girlfriend has had a few older model Acers and all have bitten the dust quickly.
She's got a Fujitsu Esprimo V5505 now and it seems pretty solid.
Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile from CCL - Awarded PC Pro Best Online Retailer of the Year 2008 for PC, PC Components, Laptops, Notebook, Computer Components, Intel Servers, Hard Drives, PC Memory

I've got a HP tablet myself, but thats over your budget and I wouldn't recommend it for general family use.
