Win2008 password security
Hi all
I have a few Windows machines at home sharing files. I have shared a folder from a Vista PC and want to access it from a Win2008 VM. I tried to create a user with the same name and password as is on the Vista PC and it says the password is too simple. I dont want to change the password on all the other machines to match what 2008 requires with complex passwords, so is there a way of overriding Win2008 to tell it to accept my simple password ?

I have got round it by using shared folders in VMware Workstation but am still interested to know if you can change the security in Win2008.

Dave,
I've had similar issues when setting up windows 2003 Server. In my test environment I want very simple passwords, and by default the security policy does not allow this.
I think what you'll need to do is to edit the local/domain security policy (obviously if you are doing this on the domain then you need to be careful as it'll effect all users). I think you can view/edit these via the Computer management Application (pretty sure it's in Administrative Tools). There should be settings in there with regards to complexity requirements.
