Default HD laptop to HD TV...

I've just noticed that one of our laptops has a HDMI output and so I have ordered a cable to connect it to our 1080p HD TV..

My only problem is that the laptop says its maximum resolution is 1280 x 800 pixels. I need it to run 1920x1080.

How can I change this ? I downloaded some software, but got confused and deleted it.

Cheers !

You're confusing the laptop screen's maximum resolution with the graphics cards maximum resolution.

Once connected at 1080p to the TV the graphics card should allow/detect the screen and the slider should go up to 1920 x 1080.

It's pretty straightforward to set different resolutions if you're using nVidia control panel, I did the same with my PC and HDTV. Just go into dual display setup.

You should be able to do it using the graphics driver already installed on your system. You have the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 built in & since there's an HDMI socket on the laptop, the driver should support multiple displays.
Right click anywhere on the desktop, select 'Properties', click the 'settings' tab then click 'advanced'. Should be in there somewhere
