Default Creating a new Xbox live account

A friend of mine has bought an Xbox360 for her son for xmas & I was wondering if there was a way I could set him up with an Xbox Live account on my 360 then transfer it to his when he opens it on xmas day so he can go on it straight away. Is this possible ?

I think it is possible. What you would do is setup the account on your xbox, then on the new one you'd use the "recover" option to recover the account. This will then invalidate the account on your machine.

You will of course need some of the details you used to setup the account on your xbox (GamerTag, credit card number, postal address, and possibly other things)

If it's not setup using a free trial thing, then you may need to provide your credit card details, I presume that this can be changed at a later date, ie; when you transfer the account over.

** edit **
Have a read of this, it does make mention of transfers.

There shouldn't be any need for a credit card, I bought one of those subscription scratch card things. I'll check the link out, thanks. Has anyone else successfully managed this ?

You could create one and have the profile sit on a memory card. Thats what I do so i can take my profile with me if i go round a friends house without having to take the 360 with me. That way you just plug the memory card into his 360 and he can play straight away

That sounds like a good solution, how much space will a profile take up ?

A profile only takes up a few Mb I think mines about 5Mb for the profile itself and the gold is attached to the account not the console so the gold live status travels with me
